The Coalition for Healthy Air and Safe Roads (CHASR) is a volunteer led coalition that is united by a shared commitment to protecting public health for all communities in proximity to major highways and thoroughfare roads in Alameda County.

  • Protect all residents near major highways and thoroughfares from air pollution, noise, vibration, safety, traffic associated with medium and heavy-duty truck traffic.
  • Promote transportation and infrastructure policies that prioritize public health, climate goals, and community well-being over trucking interests.
  • Support meaningful investments that reduce pollution at its source and help to clean the air in East and West Oakland.
  • Protect the health of the greater public by advocating for the continuation of the law that bans trucks over 9,000 pounds from segments of Highway 580.
  • Amplify the voices of all local communities in transportation and environmental decision-making processes.
